Learning by doing: Prezi presentations

Last session we worked in teams and created six Prezi presentations on different topics, all related to technology and business. For most of you, Prezi was a new tool; although it had been introduced by Edgar in an earlier session, not everyone gave it a try. That's why we did this activity. As we commented in class, the objectives were several: to "learn how to learn" to use a new tool using a hands-on approach; to work in teams on a topic with a very tight deadline; to assign tasks and manage them; and, of course, to learn a little more about Prezi.

In this thread, add a comment explaining your experience working with this apllcation, and what you learned from this activity.

Actually since Edgar's 1st presentation of Prezi, i found it cool and wanted to try it....but didn't do so because of the luck of time i had and the twitter addiction as well.
It is a very powerful tool when it comes to communicating information, instead of normal PPT, it caches your attention by the different animations it has.
However i still find it messy a bit and dont use it as good as i use ppt, but with more work and practice i will be able to master it.

It was funny because exactly that day in the morning I tried using Prezi to do my news update. But it was taking too long so I decided to abandon it. However, I already had the account on prezi which probbaly gave my team an advantage of 2 minutes.
The experience itself was fast, "brainny" and a bit stressful. But we all worked on the idea and got excited about it.
To some extent, Prezi involves more team work then a normal PPT and it gives so much more possibilities of feeling accomplished once you´ve finished your presentation.
So far, the BIS class has the undangered title of the most entertaining class.

When i saw Edgar's Prezi presentation, i thought that it was a very creative way of presenting a topic. I tried to do a short one but i found it a bit messy. However, this time, i spent time checking how everything worked and also, i saw videos that gave tips on how to use it and to make prezi presentations more interesting, creative and catchy. At the beggining, i found it a bit difficult and i did not really know what things shoud be bigger, what smaller, etc and i had trouble with the frames and the zooming in and out! But, in the end, i have really enjoyed using prezi and i'm looking forward to using it more often! Bye bye ppt, HELLO PREZI!!

I really like this kind of session, that someone brings new stuff, and we give a try.

Prezi is a really nice tool, it attracts more audiences than normal ppt, however it asks us to be well planed before we start.

I still couldn't manage those tools well~ it's new ~i will try to practice more in the future~

I remember really enjoying Edgar's presentation, especially the effect at the end when he zoomed out and showed us the bigger picture. This led me to a greater interest towards Prezi and this type of presentation, but had never thought about really trying it myself. I was glad that we did the exercise because I really did feel that I learnt a lot about the tool, eventhough certain group members are a little too enthusiastic :P. Anyway, the time pressure helped towards bringing a good intensity to the group but also rushed and panicked a few decisions. In general, good exercise for several reasons.

After I saw Edgar's presentation I wanted to try and learn more from it since I thought it would be the future of power points presentations. After I had the experience, I think people would not use Prezi because you spend a lot of time developing the presentation and in the end you will transmit the same message as a power point. Still I think it was a really nice experience.
Advice: Use a mouse when working in Prezi if you want to work a little faster!!

I had no idea about PREZI before last Thursday; still Edgar showed me the presentation he did in the first semester and it amused me for a while. Very interesting and attractive tool to make presentations though very time consuming if you want to have a decent result. It’s like everything at the beginning. Still with PREZI the presenter catches a higher level of attention from the public than with PowerPoint. Perfect for school teachers or any teacher with students that have concentration problems.
The most important aspects I take with me from the lesson are to ask for agreement from team members and have looot’s of patience!

I like prezi quite a lot, i tested it a couple of times after Edgar's presentation. It is a good tool to make presentations as an alternative to powerpoint.

I really enjoyed last class, trying new tools for presentations.
Sometimes I was a bit lost with the infinite spaces Prezi is giving you.
I might use it in the future because it's something different then PPT.

Prezi is definitely a fun way to make a presentation, but it depends on what context you are using it for. I could never see a CEO och another board memeber use prezi for a presentation however maybe at some creative department though. It takes some time to get used to the functions but I´m sure it will be easier the more you practice. Agree with Sasha, it helps to use a mouse will working with prezi.

I think it was fun, me and Claudia were so annoyed at the 3 min video which is suppose to explain how to use it. So we just played around with it and kind of taught our selves. I think its much more fun than powerpoint. I also remember edgar showing it to us and how amazed i was at all the swirling and twirling. Hope we can start to see some presentations in class done with prezi.

As i like all kinds of software having to do with designing and creating I liked this exercise. Even though i was inspired by the presentation Edgar held last year i never actually gave it a try, so by "forcing" us to do it in class i got to see how it works. I personally like prezi much more than Powerpoint for the reason that it has much functions. The presentations can appear more lively.
ofcourse it seems a bit more difficult but I'm sure it will be easy when you´ve got the hang of it. I like these kinds of group activities in class when we work "under stress" in teams.

Prezi is definately a tool worth checking out. Not many people know about this, and that's what surprises the audience. Surprise in my opinion is the key to bring attention and positive feedback. I would pay for it if I'd be making presentations for different audiences and more often..
